Monsters University
Pixar Animation Studios proudly presents Monsters University! Another animated comedy film that is certainly worth watching for adults and kids of all ages. The movie truly brought back the kid in me. I’m sure it is a happy return for director Dan Scanlon who gave an awesome prequel of the Monsters Inc. (2001). Well done!
Pixar Movies and Disney did it again! After 12 years, the monsters are back with massive fun and excitement. It may not be as great as the first installment but it has delivered a wonderful story! Indeed, it is very suitable for children because it has full of life lessons.
The characters Mike Wazowski and James P. “Sulley” Sullivan conveyed an effective representation of imperfections. They have explained very well in the movie that it’s okay not to have it all and it is normal to have people around you who question your skills and talents. The voices behind them are Billy Crystal and John Goodman, respectively who gave an emotional and on-character narration.
Another factor that made the movie more convincing is that the other characters are well developed in the story. Director Dan Scanlon really expounded the individualities of Dean Hardscrabble, Randall Boggs, and the members of Oozma Kappa (the fraternity that Mike and Sulley had joined). Their characters illustrated the good and bad side from having different dimensions of personalities. Very compelling!
The movie’s visual effects are very vibrant and colorful. It’s very soothing and enticing especially for kids. I would recommend you to watch the movie in 3-D. Also, the sounds in the film are very friendly. Plus, the special effects are just amazing like the other Pixar movies such as Toy Stories, Brave and Cars.
In brief, Monsters University is a great animated film. Even if the storyline is simple and just like any other underdog stories, it still touches my heart. The movie truly corresponds to what’s happening in the real world – competition and inequality. For sure many viewers will find this movie very relatable to their own life stories.
My rate for the movie is 8.7/10.
