One Weekend Getaway to Bato Springs Resort

Having fun at the Bato Springs Resort

From the busy streets of Makati to the jungle of Laguna, we have traveled all the way to witness the well-known Bato Springs in the southern part of Luzon. The beautiful province where our national hero Jose Rizal was born, offers not only historical venues but also environmental tourist attractions. So if you’re the kind of person who loves nature, Bato Springs Resort might meet your level of adventure.

The thing about working on a shifting schedule is that our energy gets worn-out so easily due to irregular body clock. That’s why to keep our lives up and going, my officemates and I decided to try a different kind of relaxing adventure (I’m talking about nature trip!). With the recommendation of Xania Sanchez, an environmental traveler, we went to experience one of the cold spring resorts in Laguna.

Bato Springs Resort is located at Brgy. San Cristobal, San Pablo City, Laguna and just about 2hrs bus travel from Metro Manila plus 30mins motorcycle ride from the Maharlika Hi-way. If you’ll be taking the bus bound to Calamba from Pasay Terminal in Taft Ave., the fare is Php132 each passenger. Note that you have to inform the bus driver or attendant to drop you at the Maharlika Hi-way where there’s a Bato Springs signboard. The resort is 6km from the main road and there are 5-seater tricycles piling up just where the bus will disembark you. The tricycles will send you directly to the resort for a fee of Php 40 per person.

Imagine yourself in a place where you can only hear the rush of cold spring water while the birds are chirping and the trees are swaying as the cool and fresh mountain air blows. That’s the kind of feeling you will experience the moment you step in the resort. I suggest you pay visit when it’s not seasonal so you can exclusively appreciate the natural surroundings.

The girls took their time to enjoy the man-made falls before it gets crowded.

We took an overnight stay at the resort just to have a one weekend getaway from all the pressures at work. Reservation must be made at least 5 days before the schedule and only it is confirmed upon 50% of the down payment has been made. By the way, there's an overnight entrance fee of Php125 per head to be paid at the resort's gateway.

We reserved the 2-storey family room - Apo which is about 25 sq. meters where the second floor is an open area for dining. As of this writing, the rate for ‘Apo’ room is Php2500 with 3 double size beds good for 6 people. Check in time for overnight stay is 5:00PM and check out is 4:00PM the next day. Our room has one ceiling fan but we can opt to avail an additional electric fan for an extra fee of Php125. But they say the cool air breeze from the cold spring brings fresh air that nor air-conditioned machine can provide.

There are small stores within the venue but you’re also allowed to bring you own drinks and food. Each private room has its own grilling station where you’re allowed to cook at your own expense.  Good thing we have Chef Xania to prepare the grilled food for us.

Thanks to Chef Xania for these yummy Sinugbang Bangus, Grilled Pork Belly,
Chicken Barbeque and chopped pipino.
This is also the night where secrets unfold. Oooppss! My lips are sealed. :-p

The resort is designed to be eco-friendly and sustainable. It’s not a 5-star hotel and resort but its atmosphere purely embraces the sense of nature. I must say the setting is just perfect for people who want to get away from humid and chaotic metropolitan.

Bato Springs Resorts room rates range from Php1000 to 5000 depending on the number of guests and the kind of accommodation you wish to avail. For more inquiries or reservations, you can visit their webpage at www.batosprings.com.
