Marvellous X-Men Film 2013: The Wolverine

The infamous Marvel comic’s character i.e. Wolverine once again is the spotlight of this year's X-Men film. This time, Logan travels to the Land of the Rising Sun - Japan and battles against a deadly samurai. Together with this adventure is Wolverine's self-retreat on his issue for having an immortal life while losing all his loved ones.

 The Wolverine  (2013)

Despite of the news that the movie has fell short in investment, Director James Mangold has still delivered an amazing yet aggressive film.  The Wolverine is actually the sixth installment of the X-Men series but still has the same impact as the previous sequels – marvellous and powerful!

We have known Logan from the comic as someone who is violent and aggressive. He is not even my favorite character in X-Men but the movie ‘The Wolverine’ has convinced me to like his role. The film showed a different side of his character that I never thought of. This time I finally see him as a superhero.

There's no other suitable actor than the Australian hunk, Hugh Jackman to play the main character. He depicted a very convincing and commanding portrayal in the movie. Also, he buckled up his body in preparation for this role.  And just so you know, he also produced this film through his company Seed Productions. Hence, it only shows how driven he was to make this movie possible.

Svetlana Khodchenkova a Russian actress who played as Viper in the movie is also another stunned out cast for me. She really epitomizes a girl who is sexy and powerful. Also, I built a love & hate relationship with the role of Rila Fukushima a Japanese model-actress who played as Yukio. At first, I was not pleased by her acting maybe because of her red hair with bangs that doesn't suit her face structure but in the long run I learned to love her character. She is very unique and strong. At the end of the movie, I became her fan.

The visual and sound effects of the movie are very good. But I prefer to watch it in 2-D rather than in 3-D because it doesn't have much of animation. The movie also has great fighting scenes that any action lover would be delighted to see. Especially the death scene of Viper – bloody awesome!

The movie also incorporated the story of World War 2 that happened in Japan years ago. Some might find this a very sensitive subject matter because it brought back the rivalry between Americans and Japanese but it also explained that what happened before was a tragic history that we all have learned from.

Story wise, the movie is great. But if I have to compare it with other epic films showed this year like Man of Steel and Iron Man 3, The Wolverine might appear under-rated. But still I find the movie worth watching!

My movie rating is 8/10.
