Man of Steel is by far the Best Superhero Movie of the Year

After seven years, Superman is back with a massive explosion that sets it off from all other epic movies to date. Not just because I am a fan but Man of Steel is the greatest Superman movie by far. With all the actions and sci-fi effects combined, this could be the best superhero film of the year! Congratulations to director Zack Snyder for the awesome reboot of the all time favorite comic book series, Superman.

Expectations were set very high when the trailer of Man of Steel was released early this year. And it didn’t disappoint most of the viewers including myself when the film debuted last week. In fact, it has exceeded what I have anticipated from the movie. The storytelling was smoothly conveyed through flash back of events and good action sequences. And despite that Superman has been in film for time and again, Zack Snyder still accounted what was the original story of the comic book. It told everything from the destruction of Planet Krypton, Clark’s adulthood down to becoming the superhero of Planet Earth.

Henry Cavill played as the new Clark Kent in the film. I remembered him from the fantasy film – Immortals (2011) when he played as Theseus who is a skilled warrior. At first I was unsure whether he could play the main role for Man of Steel because his portrayals before were more aggressive and belligerent which are different from Superman who is tough yet quiet for most of the time. But when I saw the movie, Cavill just fits perfectly in the character. He must have prepared physically and mentally for the movie because it was evident in the film how engaged Cavill was in his role. Also, the Superman suit was flawlessly created to showcase his muscular toned body. Certainly, many women were lured by his stunning physique. And the iconic “S” symbol in his chest could mean “sex appeal” for most fans.

Other outstanding casts were Michael Shannon as General Zod, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent, Diane Lane as Martha Kent and Russel Crowe as Jor-El. They have done an exceptional portrayal in the film. Also, a new star has been discovered in the character of Ante Traue as Faora (the sub commander of Zod) who conveyed a convincing and terrific acting as well. Bravo.

The fight scenes in the movie are amazing. I think Man of Steel has made up all the lack of thrilling and actions the previous Superman Returns had. And despite that the movie budget for the film is lesser than the prior Superman movie; the visual effects are incredible and very well presented.

All in all, Man of Steel is a very good movie. No doubt it could become the highest-grossing film for year 2013. So my rate for the movie is 8.4/10.

Man of Steel soars into theaters June 12 (PHL) and June 14 (US).
