Located at Wat Thmey, Siem
Reap is Shining Angkor Boutique Hotel where you can indulge a sense of
serene living for a night or two. The hotel encompasses the culture of Cambodia
through its exquisite architecture and design. Truly they endeavour to give
their guest an ultimate Cambodian experience like no other!
The hotel is furnished with Cambodian traditional decor which sets it apart from other hotels in upscale areas. Personally, this is the kind of accommodation I prefer when travelling in prehistoric sites like the Angkor Wat. After all, the purpose why we travel in Cambodia is to see the temples and witness their culture that has been flourished for over a hundred years.
The location of the hotel is just
right in the middle of everything you need in Siem Reap. It will only take you
15-minute travel if you decided to shop or dine out in their downtown. Also,
the hotel is about 10-minute tuktuk ride to Angkor Wat. In our case, we hired a
tuktuk driver for USD 15.00 per head to guide us in travelling around Siem Reap
for two days.
The room provided to us has
about 28 square meters area with two (2) very soft and high-quality cotton mattresses. The
furnitures are presented in traditional Khmer fashion but also incorporated a little
modern style. The bathroom is very clean with shower and bath tub. They have
cabled television and complimentary internet access where you can connect as
many devices as you like. Also, along with the reservation is free usage of the hotel's outdoor swimming pool anytime of the day.
In front of the hotel is a
mini-restaurant where you can try Cambodian cuisine. The food selection is
limited but I have to admit that I enjoyed all the food I ordered
during our stay. The food prices are in USD and pretty reasonable for the
quality they cater.
Stir-fried chicken with crispy ginger (USD 5.00)
For the Free Breakfast, here's the list of food you can choose from.
Food are served from 6 AM up to 10 AM.
Two eggs, two pancakes and two slices of bacon served with orange juice
Sausage with toasts and eggs served with strawberry juice
But for me, the best thing about
Shining Angkor Boutique Hotel is their staff. They are very friendly, accommodating and attentive.
Despite the difficulty of conversing in English, they never forget to smile all
the time. I have to say, Cambodians are genuinely nice people.
We came to know about the hotel
from www.agoda.com and booked for two (2) nights
stay amounting to only PHP 3,312.36 or USD 76.88 (good for two persons with free
breakfast). But for their regular rates and further details, you can visit
their webpage at http://www.shiningangkorboutiquehotel.com/
